A Month of Pur-paws: CARA’s Busy August

Written by: Leanza Garcia

August was another month of hard work, compassion, and meaningful progress for CARA Welfare Philippines. From life-saving CNVR operations to joyful adoptions and community events, every effort brought us closer to a more humane world for animals. Here’s a look back at what we accomplished together this month.

🐾 Continuing CNVR Programs

This August, our CNVR efforts continued strong with 262 cats and 9 dogs spayed and neutered.

We’re proud to share that our ongoing CNVR agreements remain active across several locations, including Newport Blvd, Dasmariñas Village, Magallanes Village, Manila American Cemetery, Solstice Tower Condominium, Circuit Makati Estate Association, Brio Tower Condominium, Trion Tower, Vierra Residence, Brgy. Wack-Wack, Tivoli Garden, Lexington Village, Pacific Malayan, Cats of Ortigas, Cats of California Garden Square, San Lorenzo Village, Barangay Bel Air, Cats of BGC, and Cats of McKinley.

Each spay and neuter represents a life changed—not just for the animal, but for the community they belong to. By preventing the cycle of overpopulation, CNVR remains one of the most impactful ways we can create lasting, humane solutions.

🏡 Happily Ever Afters

August was also a month of new beginnings for two of our beloved cats!

Tomi found his forever home with Christian Kaw on August 8, while Lilo was adopted by Mustafa Nekodest on August 21.

We’re overjoyed to see more of our rescues find families who will give them the love and care they deserve. Every adoption reminds us why we do what we do. ❤️

📅 Community Events

August was filled with activity and community engagement. We celebrated International Cat Day on August 8 by highlighting our adoptable cats and encouraging more people to open their homes to them.

CARA also participated in several outreach and awareness events, including PAWfect Fair (August 9–10), Pet Day (August 19), and the International Pet Summit (August 22–24) where our team sold merchandise and shared our mission with hundreds of animal lovers.

We also connected with like-minded groups through meeting with JCI Quezon City (August 25) to discuss future animal welfare collaborations, and also with Ateneo and Rockwell volunteers (August 26) to strengthen community cat care initiatives. The month wrapped up with the CARA Team Leaders Meeting (August 30), where we strategized new ways to face ongoing challenges and continue improving our efforts.

🎁 Generous Donations

A huge thank you to everyone who donated this month! Your generosity keeps our rescues fed, our facilities clean, and our programs running.

From cat and dog food to medical and cleaning supplies, every contribution goes a long way in helping us care for the animals who depend on us. Your support fuels our mission, and we’re deeply grateful.

As we look back on August’s milestones, we’re reminded of the heart and teamwork that keep CARA’s mission alive month after month. With September now behind us and more projects on the horizon, we remain deeply grateful to our donors, partners, and volunteers whose continued support makes every rescue, every spay and neuter, and every adoption possible.

Together, we’re building a kinder future for animals—one step, one month, and one life at a time. ❤️
