Notice to the Public: Franco/Putol

Please be advised that the dog Franco/Putol is currently under CARA’s care (Compassion and Responsibility for Animal). This dog was rescued in Cavite under Bantay Animal Welfare in January 2017.

This dog has received two rounds of vincristine (chemo drug), biopsy, xray, blood test from April 22 to date. No donation funds from the January 2017 to April 27 call out donations were ever used to settle these bills (except for the P3,500 remitted to Pet Project by two donors).

We encourage the public to exercise caution against individuals who may be soliciting funds and asserting ownership under the guise of supporting this dog.

We are working with Bureau of Animal Industry, media and the police authorities to investigate individuals involved in this animal exploitation. REST ASSURED, THESE PEOPLE WILL BE PROSECUTED TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW.

Please be reminded that under Animal Welfare Act of The Philippines (as amended by RA10631) Section 6: It shall be unlawful for any person to torture any animal, to neglect to provide adequate care, subject any dog or horse to dogfights or horsefights, kill or cause or procure to be tortured or deprived of adequate care, sustenance or shelter, or maltreat or use the same in research or experiments not expressly authorized by the Committee on Animal Welfare.
