To Make a Difference for Animal Welfare, Take Action

Laguna Pit Bull Jade

It’s one thing to like and share a post, but to really dedicate your time and effort to helping save the lives of rescued animals, now that’s making a difference.

Probably the most fulfilling thing I have done so far, finally deciding to take action for a cause I believe in: Animal Welfare.

I’ve been in love with animals all my life, but it was only recently when I questioned how much that “love” changes anything or anyone. Though it’s hard to admit, the answer was not much. Realizing that, I got out of my lazy bum, gave myself some serious talking, and finally gained the courage and determination to take action. Sitting on the couch, surfing the web all day doesn’t make that much of a difference. It’s one thing to like and share a post, but to really dedicate your time and effort to helping save the lives of rescued animals, now that’s making a difference.

And so, I took on the quest to join an organization where I can offer my time and gifts to something bigger than myself. Thankfully, it was easy to find CARA. To give you a brief background, CARA is a non-profit, non-government organization formed in 2000 to promote responsible pet ownership. It is mainly composed of volunteers. One of their projects is the Laguna Pit Bull Project, which aims to rehome the pit bulls that were rescued from a dog fighting syndicate in 2012.

CARA has been working to advance animal welfare in the country for 17 years now and there are no signs of the organization slowing down.

Helping Rescued Animals

Spending my spare time to help CARA’s rescues makes me happy. But more than that, knowing that the little time and effort I spend for them could change their lives forever—well, that just closed the deal.

I know that for a lot of people volunteering may sound like a pain (it kinda did to me, too). You wake up early–ON A WEEKEND–when you could have slept all day, sometimes you have to travel far, and then you come home with all the energy sucked out of you. But (of course there’s a but!), when you already have a passion deeply rooted inside you, nothing else matters. The fulfillment I get from finally feeling like I’m doing something significant with my life is worth way more than what I have to sacrifice.

The Pit Bulls

These creatures, they’re not just animals co-existing with us in a complex ecosystem, they’re our companions, our family. Once neglected and abused, they need every help they can get. They may have been subjected to a miserable life once, but it’s never too late to give them the best life they deserve now.

So if you’re like me or if you were like the previous me, a part-time couch potato, with the usual urges to try to find answers to mind-boggling questions about life. Well, CARA and the LPB project are always open for new volunteers.

Volunteer now by filling out this form!
