Rizzo was rescued at the Cainta, Rizal Public Market. The reporter had seen him a few times and was stunned to see a stray walking around on two legs. Many in the are believed that he had been hit by a car. However, after CARA rescued him, our partner vet Doc Mace diagnosed him with a severe case of Erlichia, which had caused paralysis of the hind legs. The paralysis was too far gone to be reversed, so Rizzo’s fate was uncertain.

Some months later, CARA received an unexpected email from Rebekah, an American Marine who was stationed in Manila for two months. She expressed interest in adopting a rescued dog, and her preference was a dog that would be hard to adopt out. Her plan was to bring the dog back to San Diego with her.

It was decided that Rizzo would be perfect. When Rebekah paid Rizzo a visit, they immediately hit it off. Thus, Rizzo’s fate was sealed–which is to have a happy forever home overseas.

One month later, Rizzo went home to San Diego with Rebekah. He now lives in a house with a large yard, and has several fur siblings. In true Cinderella fashion, dreams do indeed come true!

    1. Hi, Jhay-R. Thanks for your concern! CARA, however, has very limited means and we rely on compassionate individuals to do their part helping needy animals. CARA is always happy to facilitate transport and help raise funds but we do not have a shelter. We are always in need of people to foster and adopt. Please spread the word. Each of us can make a difference.

  2. Hi Rebekah, may our Heavenly Father look upon you always..May HIS blessings be with you for having a golden heart… So happy to know that there people like you who is very much willing to give a forever home to Rizzo…
